about

This is a collection of recordings made by the High Plane Drifters between 2003 - 2008 and features a mix of officially released and archive tracks that were either released on limited edition demo disks or not released at all.

They were a two piece who had a formidable live reputation, and were not afraid to get creative when recording. They only officially released 2 EP's (2004 & 2005) and a sole LP, which appeared in August of 2007. All of the releases appeared on the Don't Tell Clare label, set up by the band and Tom Butchart of Sound It Out records.

The band were based and mainly operated around the Teesside area in the North East of England, but toured extensively throughout the British Isles and completed a short two week tour of the Mid-West USA in summer of 2009 with The Black Diamond Heavies and The Bohannons. Shortly after this they disbanded leaving behind a strong underground legacy.

The band signed a synching deal with Hunnypot Unlimited, based in LA around 2007/2008 which has led to their music being used on programs such as Breaking Bad, CSI Miami and the US version of Shameless starring William Macy.

Despite the official releases on vinyl, the band recorded extensively, with much of the material remaining in the vaults, that is up to now. As mentioned above, this LP is a mix of official releases, out takes and demo tracks.

The LP also features some cameo appearances by Johnny Walker from the Soledad Brothers and John Wesley Myers (James Leg) who was playing with Black Diamond Heavies at the time of recording.
